In life it’s hard to state that there are certain things we know for sure because in a blink of an eye everything can change. What we do know though is how we are feeling in a certain moment or situation and that intuitive information can help us take the next important step.
As you travel down the road of entrepreneurship, you will have to make many decisions and trust me, get used to listening and trusting your intuition; it’s your best guide. Systems, strategies and how-to programs are simply tools to help you integrate what your gut is telling you about how to run your business and what you should be doing. So lesson #1 in business, trust your intuition and don’t depend on outside things to make you successful.
I’ve spent many hours over the last 7 years asking myself questions like “Is this journey really made for me?” or “Am I really doing what I was meant to do?” and there was only one thing that I could come back to time and time again that I knew for sure. I knew from deep down in my core that I could not be an employee! At any moment in my life when I was working for someone else I felt so miserable. And each time I remember telling myself that maybe I just needed to suck it up and work like most people in my surroundings. I thought that maybe I was acting spoiled and being difficult when others were rolling up their sleeves and doing 9 to 5 to pay the bills (as if I wasn’t rolling up mine). But each time I was a employee, I suffered, literally. It was painful physically and mentally. I felt like my soul was suffocating. So the one thing I knew for sure is that if I settled for security and followed the herd, I would slowly die inside, one day at a time. The result? There was no other option than being an entrepreneur. Did I have all the answers? Nope! Should you? Nope!
Lesson #2 in business, let things unfold. If you know for sure that this path is THE one that will make you happy then walk it with your head up high! You don’t need to be sure about your business model or if it will work out in he long run. All you can do is take the next step that feels the best in that moment.
I began as a yoga teacher and started my first business which was called Yoga Life. I then specialized in Yoga in the workplace (what was I thinking to put this creative, spontaneous and rebel soul in a corporate environment?). I went on to become a Yogatherapist, working one-on-one with people who were suffering from depression, anxiety and life dissatisfaction (a lightbulb went off here, coaching was calling me). While I was a Yogatherapist, I got the opportunity to help my teacher start and launch her school as the main manager running the show (second lightbulb went off). I loved this experience and it was a key turning point in my career, even though I was freaking out about the fact that I was falling in love with something that had nothing to do with Yoga. From there I started helping other entrepreneurs with their business and opened my own wellness center (THE experience that brought it all together and about 1 million lightbulbs went off during this year and a half). While all this was happening, I kept having flashbacks of this dream brand I wanted to bring to life, this calling that I felt I was put on this earth to do. I just couldn’t see how it was going to come together. Patience was needed (and I am not good at that). During a networking event at my wellness center for entrepreneurs (I wasn’t offering much wellness services anymore, I was hooked on business) I met the amazing person that is Geneviève Colmer, my now business partner at Injoy Business. I knew she HAD to be part of this project of mine. She had everything I was looking for to start this exciting journey and she believed in it too!

So here we are today, in a place that I would have never imagined. If I can describe in one word now how I wake up everyday it would be: fulfilled. The words that would describe the last 7 years would be: insecurity, exploration, growth, inner knowing and trial and error. All that to say that you don’t need to know for sure how things will pan out. If you know for sure that you are meant be an entrepreneur, then hold onto that and let the journey unfold, one magical step at a time. Our mission here at Injoy Business is to make sure that we can do everything in our power so that entrepreneurs don’t give up or settle because they don’t have all the answers.
Cheers to your success and INJOY the business journey,
